Reverend Shannon Mayfield is committed to the vision of God that scripture reveals, a loving and inclusive God who welcomes all and loves all.
Shannon brings a lifetime of varied experiences to the pulpit. Before attending seminary at Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta (MDiv 2016), Shannon had successful careers as a businessman, land conservationist, and political operative.
He was trained as an attorney at the University of GA Lumpkin School of Law and is a member of the MT Bar Association and GA Bar Association. Though he never practiced law in a traditional sense, his legal training has
been an integral part of his career and has proven useful in a church setting.
While a seminary student, Shannon received awards for outstanding scholarship and served the Candler community in a variety of capacities. He continues to serve on the Candler Committee of 100, which supports
the Candler School of Theology and the Methodist mission.
Shannon lives with his wife of 20 years Kristy. They have two children: Katy, a student at Emory University and Henry, a student at Hellgate High School.
When he isn’t in the pulpit or serving those in need, Shannon can be found on the rivers, ski slopes, or hunting lands of western Montana.
